Architectural Design Studio 3
Project 1 // Memorial, Journey of the 5 senses
For this project, as a group of 4-5, we had to study and understand the spatial poetics of a space, through the 5 senses; how do we interact with the space.
For project 1a, we had to do 2 precedent studies, which would help us in analysing the spatial poetics applied in the design. How the spaces are organised and ordered; how the typologies ordered the use of the design: Linear and Concentric.
I learned how the spaces are articulated in terms of the poetics, sensuality and tactility of architectural spaces.
For our group, we chose the The National Assembly of Dhaka and the Church of Sacred Heart.

we had to apply all the knowledge that we acquired through the precedent studies into the design of the memorial
After the events which happened in the early months of 2014; the Sinking of the MV Sewol, the plane disaster of MH 370 and MH 17, we were assigned to design a memorial for the MV Sewol and either of MH 370 or MH 17.
This was a very significant project, as we had to incorporate the spatial poetics and the feelings. My group took the tough decision of choosing MH 370, as until now we don't know the sequence of events which unfolded during the flight.

Project 2// Site analysis & Concept development
In Project 2, the design brief calls for an architectural response toward the sense of place with a strong engagement and relationship to the site and programmatic requirements.
The analysis is compulsory for each new site that we visit for a new project. The site we analysed is Pulau Besar which is located in Melaka. It is a fundamental need for any design project as it will suggest a series of parameters to suggest architectural solution, one that will be appropriate to the place and its meaning, and contributes to its context. The site needs to be understood, in both intuitive and personal ways, as well as quantitative and measured means. Techniques to record and understand the site are varied, from physical surveys to qualitative aspects of experience and personal interpretation of the place.

PROJECT 3//Genis Loci: VIC
Project 1 introduced and explored the formal and poetic articulation of architecture in a site-less condition.
Project 2 established a Design Concept as a driver for architectural development.
In Project 3, the design brief calls for an architectural response to design a visitor interpretive center (VIC) emphasising a strong engagement and relationship to the site, spatial experiences and programmatic requirements.
I developed and refined the concept from project 2, until i get the final Visitor interpretive centre.
